The FACE Campaign’s legislative effort is based on model legislation developed by AFT Higher Education. Individual states have adapted this model to fit the legislative and higher education governance structures in their states. Those bills are cataloged by year and state on the FACE Legislation page. FACE is a comprehensive legislative strategy for addressing problems we see with the academic staffing structure. It builds on numerous other legislative efforts to address similar and related issues at the state level. The Related Legislation page is a catalog of state legislation that addresses a variety of issues related to our academic staffing structure, with a particular emphasis on legislation designed to improve the working conditions of contingent faculty, including non-tenure track, part-time and adjunct faculty. In addition, there are alternatives to the model legislation including suggestions for approaching FACE one year at a time and other first step strategies such as introducing legislation that calls on your state to conduct a study of instructional staff levels at state colleges and universities. If we have missed any relevant legislation in your state, please Contact Us. |
